Ingredients
Cake
- 1 1/2 cups cake flour (if substituting all-purpose flour use 3 tablespoons less)
- 1/4 cup Chatfield’s® Carob Powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
- 1 cup water
Frosting
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp Chatfield’s® Carob Powder
- 1 tbsp margarine
- 2 tbsp soy milk
- 1/2 tbsp corn syrup
- 6 tbsp confectioners sugar
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
For Frosting
- Prepare frosting by mixing sugar, carob, margarine, soy milk, corn syrup in sauce pan.
- Heat to boiling and boil for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool.
- Beat the powdered sugar and vanilla into cool mixture.
For Cake
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Grease or spray an 8x8 inch pan.
- Combine wet ingredients in bowl.
- Combine dry ingredients and sift over wet mixture and stir enough to distribute all ingredients.
- Pour into greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.
- Frost the cooled cake.
